Why this page exists
I am from here
Most photographers listing Shelby as a service area have never worked in Cleveland County. They put the town name on a page and hope. This is different, and it is worth saying up front rather than burying it.
I grew up here. I know the difference between Uptown Shelby and downtown Kings Mountain, I know what the drive from Charlotte actually is, and I know that a business on Court Square is not running the same playbook as a firm in SouthPark.
That matters for a practical reason. Cleveland County businesses get pitched a lot of generic services from people who treat the county as an afterthought market, and the work usually shows it. A headshot session run by somebody who has spent forty minutes on Google Maps looks like exactly that.
The studio itself is in south Charlotte, which is honestly about an hour away. So rather than pretend otherwise, the work here is structured around scheduled Cleveland County days instead.

How it works out here
Scheduled county days, not a fifty minute drive each way for one photo
Rather than quoting a travel fee and hoping you accept it, Cleveland County work gets grouped into dedicated days.
Team sessions anchor the day
A company session of four people or more books the date. The full portable studio travels out: lighting, backdrops and a tethered monitor set up in your conference room, training room, or any corner with about ten feet of clear wall and a power outlet.
Individual sessions fill it in
Once a date is on the calendar, individual sessions can be booked into the same day at a nearby location. That is how a solo attorney or advisor gets a proper studio-quality portrait without driving to Charlotte or paying for a private trip.
No travel surcharge
Sessions on a scheduled county day are priced the same as sessions in Charlotte. The travel is absorbed because the day is full, which is the entire reason for structuring it this way.
Or come to the studio
The Charlotte studio is always an option too, about an hour down US-74 and I-85, with free parking at the door. Worth it for the full premium session with multiple backdrops and wardrobe changes.

Across the county
Shelby, Kings Mountain, Boiling Springs and the towns between
Shelby
The county seat, so it carries the professional core: the courthouse and the law firms around it, Atrium Health Cleveland, county government, banks, insurance and accounting practices, and the independent businesses that have rebuilt Uptown Shelby around Court Square, the Don Gibson Theatre and the Earl Scruggs Center.
Kings Mountain
The I-85 town, and the one with the most through-traffic. Manufacturing, distribution and logistics along the corridor, the professional services that follow that kind of employment, and a downtown that has been steadily filling back in. Team and staff directories here are often years out of date, usually because the people running them are operations people who would rather be doing anything else.
Boiling Springs
Gardner-Webb University sets the tone. Faculty and staff portraits, department pages, athletics and administration, plus the professionals and small practices that cluster around any university town.
The smaller towns
Lawndale, Fallston, Waco, Grover, Polkville, Casar, Earl, Mooresboro and Lattimore. Mostly owner-operated businesses, trades, agriculture and family practices, where one strong owner portrait plus a crew photo does the whole job.
Who books here
Why a Cleveland County business needs this at all
The honest answer is that most do not think they do, right up until they lose something to a competitor who looked more serious online.
Law firms and accounting practices here compete against Charlotte and Gastonia firms for the same clients, and the bio page is where that comparison happens. Manufacturers and distributors along I-85 send leadership pages to national customers doing vendor due diligence. Gardner-Webb competes for faculty and students against schools with polished department pages.
In every one of those cases, somebody is glancing at a photo and deciding in about a second whether you look like the organization they hoped to find. That decision is being made whether or not anybody planned for it.
A phone photo cropped from a group shot answers the question badly. It is a small thing that quietly costs real money.
The difference
Most studios deliver in 5 to 7 days. You will have yours in 48 hours.
The whole point of a scheduled county day is speed. Photographed Tuesday, files in hand Thursday, website updated by the weekend.

Full breakdown: what you are actually paying for in a headshot.
What to bring
What to wear on an on-site session day
We are shooting at the office. How does wardrobe work?
Differently than at a studio, and it is worth planning. People are changing in a restroom or an empty office, not a dressing room, so bring looks you can swap in two minutes. A jacket you add and remove gives you two distinct portraits with no changing at all.
Should the whole team coordinate?
Coordinate the level, not the color. Agree on business or business casual so nobody arrives in a suit next to a colleague in a company polo. Matching colors exactly looks staged, but mismatched formality is what actually ruins a team page.
What if my job means I am not in office clothes?
Then do not fake it. Plant leadership, trades owners and field managers look most credible in clean work attire that reflects the actual job. A branded shirt that fits well beats a borrowed blazer every time.
Colors, patterns and jewelry?
Solids over patterns, and avoid tight stripes or small checks, which can shimmer on camera. Keep jewelry simple so nothing catches the light and drags attention off your eyes.
The longer version: what to wear for a professional headshot.
Common questions
Before you book
Is there a headshot photographer in Shelby, NC?
Cleveland County is served on scheduled travel days rather than from a local storefront. The studio is in south Charlotte, about an hour away. Team sessions of four or more anchor a county date, and individual sessions can then be booked into that same day locally, at standard pricing with no travel surcharge.
Do you charge extra to come to Cleveland County?
Not on a scheduled county day. Sessions booked into an existing date are priced the same as sessions in Charlotte. A private trip outside those dates is quoted separately, which is exactly why the days are grouped.
How much does a headshot cost in Shelby?
Express LinkedIn sessions are $399 for 30 minutes and 3 retouched files. Premium executive sessions are $720 for around two hours and 10 retouched files. Corporate team rates start at $139 per person on site.
Do you photograph teams in Kings Mountain and Boiling Springs?
Yes. Kings Mountain, Boiling Springs, Lawndale, Fallston, Waco, Grover and the rest of the county are all covered on a scheduled day. All that is needed on site is a room with about ten feet of clear wall and a power outlet.
Can you photograph Gardner-Webb faculty and staff?
Yes. Faculty, staff, athletics and administrative portraits all work on campus, and they can be matched to whatever style a department already uses so new arrivals do not stand out on the page.
How long until I get my photos?
Fully retouched files are delivered within 48 hours, the same as everywhere else. You will have already seen and approved the frames on a calibrated monitor before the session ends.
What if I am not photogenic?
Most people say this before a session and nobody says it after. The work is in the coaching, not in your face. Everything is shot tethered to a monitor so you watch it come together instead of waiting to find out, and there is a satisfaction guarantee behind it.
What makes a headshot actually work?
Expression first, then light, then everything else. The full explanation is here: what separates the headshots that get you hired.
